Iron, manganese, and sulfur are among the most common — and most frustrating — problems in Hill Country well water. The good news: with the right filtration, they're very fixable.
The tell-tale signs
- Rusty orange or brown stains on sinks, tubs, toilets, and laundry — that's iron.
- Dark brown/black specks or staining — often manganese.
- "Rotten egg" smell, especially in hot water — that's hydrogen sulfide (sulfur).
- Metallic taste in your drinking water.
How we fix it
We install a dedicated iron/sulfur filtration stage — sized to your water test — typically ahead of your softener so it removes the iron, manganese, and sulfur before they can stain, smell, or foul the rest of your equipment. The result: clear, odor-free water and an end to the staining.
Part of a bigger picture. Iron and sulfur usually show up alongside hardness on wells, so this often pairs with a softener as part of complete well water treatment. We'll map it all out from your test.
